Short Ride Downtown to Kirkwood Subdivision and Back
Come and ride a short 14 km ride from downtown to the Kirkwood subdivision off Ramsey Lake Road. See the newly-paved sections of the Ramsey Lake paved multi-use path, and the light that will shortly be in use to safely cross from the Science North entrance to the Health Sciences North entrance. This is a ride suitable for everyone, with sections of trails, paved multi-use paths, cycle tracks and quieter streets and roads. There are a few hills. More info here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/37278032
All of our rides are also on our Ride With GPS club page, so you can do them on your own if you can’t join us on ride night:
We will be posting our weekly rides on our Facebook page, on Instagram and on Twitter, as well as in an event on our website.
The ride starts at 6:30 pm. Please be at the start by 6:15 so we can get everyone registered before the start of the ride.
We will cancel rides in inclement weather, so please check our website or social media prior to heading out to the ride for any changes to the ride.
Bring water and make sure your bike is in good shape eg. air in tires, brakes in working order.
Our rides and Covid-19
We will be following Covid protocols:
– We’ll meet at the start and ride in groups of up to 25. Ride leaders will be there to help direct how this will be organized.
– When arriving at the meeting point, please keep your distance from other riders at the recommended 2 metres (6 feet). Same with when we stop along the ride or end the ride.
– Bring a mask to wear if you can’t stay physically distanced at any point during the ride.
– You will need to sign our registration sheet and provide a telephone number so you can be contacted by Public Health if necessary. You may wish to bring your own pen to sign, or bring a pair of gloves that you can wear while using our pen.
Details about all of our rides
Join us for some fun rides in 2021! Our Thursday evening Community Rides run until mid to end of September. Rides will be offered in a variety of locations across Greater Sudbury. We’ll be travelling on roads and hard packed trails, so rides will be suitable for all styles of bicycles, and for most riders except for those who are just learning to ride.
Details, including the route for the ride, will go up on our website and on our social media a few days before the scheduled ride. Any cancellations due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances will also be announced the day of the ride on our website, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. We typically only cancel if there is the risk of thunder or poor conditions on the roads or trails.
Children are welcome on our rides, but parents are responsible for determining if their child can complete the ride.
We will always ensure that the group stays together – no rider will be left behind! Every ride will include a pre-ride safety talk and some tips on how to navigate the route. Riders will need to sign an attendance/waiver form, and all riders under 18 must wear a helmet.
Before each ride, please ensure that your bike is road-worthy. We’ll have a bicycle pump available prior to each ride, but we won’t be doing bike repairs or adjustments. We encourage all riders to wear helmets. And don’t forget to bring some water and snacks!
