June 9, 5:30 pm – first SCU ride of the season!
The Sudbury Cyclists Union is hosting a Community Bike Ride as an opportunity to share the joy of cycling with others and to learn about the cycling infrastructure that exists within Greater Sudbury.
Meet us on Thursday, June 9, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The ride starts and finishes at Carmichael Arena (1298 Bancroft Drive). The route will make its way to the downtown core and then head toward Laurentian University along the multi-use path. Our ride will explore existing on-road and off-road cycling infrastructure in Greater Sudbury. The total estimated distance for the ride is 17 kilometres. The route will not require riders to bike on any busy multi-lane roads.
Everyone is welcome, especially families and non-expert riders.
Requirements:
Safety is very important: all participants will be required to follow the rules of the road. Helmets are mandatory for anyone under 18, and everyone else is also strongly encouraged to wear a helmet. Before the ride starts, riders will be asked to sign a waiver and take part in a brief safety information session.
