At our GM this evening, one of our members told us that a driver’s ed instructor here in Sudbury had very forcefully informed his wife (who was taking driver’s ed) that bicycles do not belong on the road. He apparently said a number of very derogatory statements about cycling on the road!

As a result, you might want to know exactly what the current driver’s ed handbook says. As we don’t have a printed version, we went to the online version and found the following page at http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/dandv/driver/handbook/section2.3.2.shtml

The SCU is VERY interested in knowing what the local driver’s ed companies are telling their students. We will be mounting a letter-writing campaign to ask all local companies what their instructors are teaching in regards to dealing with bicycles on the road.
