Locating Your Bike’s Serial Number
For those of us who put our bikes away for this long and snowy winter, it’s almost time to start thinking about getting our bikes ready for spring. If you’ve not yet done it, one of the things that you should do is make sure that you have your bike’s serial number. If you’re ever in the unhappy position of reporting your bike stolen, the serial number will make it easier for the police to assist. Some, but not all, retail outlets that sell bikes will record the serial number on your bill of sale. Record your serial number now, and the next time that you buy a bike, make sure the salesman shows you where it’s located and puts it on your bill of sale.

Please note that the info below refers to registering your bike. In Sudbury, we used to be able to register our bikes, and have them inspected for safety by the police at the beginning of the cycling season. This is no longer done here, so make sure that you take the time to register your serial number.
